Workshop 10 - the last one before the ISS!

Contributed by Yonim Schweig

This past sunday featured a cohort in good spirits, and looking forward to the Israel trip. To start the meeting, parents and fellows reviewed the itinerary together. As the parents went over further details with coordinators, the fellows stopped for lunch on the roof. The fellows then reconvened to share their "Oy's and Joys" of the week. Lara and Aiden introduced the concept of a MOSHE (Manhig Shel Hayom- leader of the day) a daily leader responsible for herding the fellows from place to place, who may also be called such because they work with the staff (insert laugh track). We once more reviewed the "redline rules", just in case anybody had decided to get short term memory loss since the last time we discussed them, and we collectively decided on the signature item of the MOSHE, which proved to be a close contest between a fanny pack and a pouch of dirt. All are excited and most have some sort of question about footwear or bare shoulders- all good signs.
Signing off,

Our Overnight-turned-workshop

Contributed by Sarah Starks

Our Diller overnight-turned-worship was a lot of fun.

It started differently than usual. We kicked off our day with Skype calls to our partner cohort in the Upper Galilee: between three and five members of the SF cohort are partnered with three to five members of the UG cohort. Each group is in charge of planning one day of our community week in Israel. The Skype calls allowed each group to finalize their plans for their allotted day.

After the Skype calls each group made a "treasure map"of their day, showing all of the activities in a visual way on a poster, and then shared it with the rest of the cohort. This allowed us to see what other groups were planning for our week.

Once we were done sharing our plans for community week, and keeping with the theme of planning for the Israel Summer Seminar, each member of our cohort got to choose a different bus tour during Kennes: the three day conference in Jerusalem where all Dillers from outside of Israel gather. This is a new, exciting aspect of Israeli Summer Seminar.

There were 8 different bus tours that Fellows could chose from. There was a wide range of activities that will allow Fellows to see unique sides of Jerusalem. After everyone had chosen which bus tours they would like to go on we headed up to the roof for lunch. It was a clear San Francisco afternoon. Lara ordered kosher food and hired a DJ for lunch so we were able to enjoy our wonderful view, eat, hang out and some great music.

After we were done with our lunch we headed back inside for our final two programs. First we made a 1 minute video to show a Kennes in Israel. We took a short walk to the Embarcadero to film our video. Each cohort outside of Israel was tasked to make a video showcasing different aspects of Diller. After we finished our video, Elana White lead a creative bracelet making activity. Each fellow made a bracelet representing a high point and a low point that they've had. We then had a chance to share the experiences that our bracelets represented.

To end our workshop we did a final word whip and left the federation.

It was a great workshop!
